Both of these manuals indicate that the M100 produces digital images. To see the evidence, open the file and search for the word "pixel."

These documents were obtained in public records requests by Black Box Voting.

While teh M100 may produce pixel-based images of the target area, or perhaps even of the entire page, it's not clear whether or not the images actually get stored or retained anywhere. Unless I can find something that proves otherwise, I am of the opinion that whatever digital image they may produce simply gets interpreted and then discarded.

I'll keep digging...

John -- that's correct. The system may not RETAIN the images it creates. Now, would the answer to that lie in the hardware or the firmware?

I haven't formed an opinion on this, but now that we know they're talking about pixels, it opens things up for records requests. Especially in Florida, they cannot discard any images we have requested if they exist.

I'll keep digging too.
