Hi gang,

I'm new to the site having just watched the documentary. For some reason I can't open any of the pdf files. I tried another website that I frequent and adobe launched and opened the page there. If anyone has any suggestions I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Brian

Which pdf files were you trying to open?

Some of the ones that are larger files might take longer to open than one expects.

Hi Cathy

Thanks for responding. I've tried numerous links. The problem is on my end as I was able to pull the pdf files up on my wifes much slower laptop.

I have recently upgraded to the latest IE browser and would believe that to be the cause if I weren't able to pull up PDFs on other websites.

I'm hoping maybe it's just a setting that someone will be able to guide me to. It's definately not my antivirus software as I tried shutting all that down and retrying.

Maybe you should uninstall your Adobe Acrobat Reader (assuming that is what you're using to open pdf files) and then reinstall it.

We have issues like this with our customers. One common cause of Adobe Reader issues relates to versioning. If a document was created with a later version of Adobe Acrobat than the Adobe PDF Reader installed on your machine, you won't be able to open that PDF. So you find that you can seem to open some PDFs and not others (because some files are more recent while others are older). The latest version of the Adobe Reader should be backwards compatible. Forward compatibility is generally not supported.

Be sure to get the latest Adobe Reader for your OS. Let me know what version your software is reporting and which OS you are using... and if the problem still persists.

Good luck...
Saul

Saul,

Thanks buddy, that is probably my problem. Unfortunately I am stuck with this older version of adobe for work reasons. I’ll just have to keep swiping my wife’s laptop to read here.

Just for the sake of saying I have one of the 6 series/versions.

Thanks,

Brian
