Back in the last stolen election I was fuming about the fact that voters never get a receipt as proof of their vote, plus the fact that access to voting locations is still a joke. I asked myself, is there a current model of a system that is in place, gives you a receipt of the the choices you can clearly and easily pencil in, and is located nearly everywhere? Voila! Lottory machines! It seems to me that they could be retrofitted for voting and be secured using free/open source methodology - can we consider leveraging this technology to further our so-called Democracy?

David,

Welcome to Black Box Voting. I see you have been "thinking outside the box" and this is the kind of thing we need.

Retrofitting the lottery machines probably wouldn't work. If we are to use machines for voting, it does require some complexity you won't find in a lottery machine. We've managed to create a nearly impossible set of regulations in each state regarding overlapping districts for various races, ballot rotations and so forth, making designing voting machines more complex than most people realize at first.

It's great to see you here.

Make November elections the biggest evidence gathering action ever. EVIDENCE = videotape, audiotape and photos. Come prepared. This time, focus on the COUNTING not just the voting.
