Easy seems to be the claim of every BOE that gets new electronics. Actually, I wonder what could be easier than a pen and paper. By the way, how does a blind person reconcile touch screen, audio, private and accessible? Just wondering since I am going blind. They can just save the taxpayers money and I will vote absentee with the help of a trusted person. Like my wife. William. On with the this story ...

Sheila Manning, a local resident who used to live in Florida, tried one of the new machines Wednesday at the library's main branch. She found the touch screen format easy to use.
"We needed them in Florida (in 2000)," she said. "We wouldn't have had all those problems."

Evelyn Gibson, an elections worker, said public feedback has been positive.

"They've all seemed to like them really well," she said. "(The machines) are a lot easier for them."

The Election Commission purchased 95 voting machines from ES&S for $341,655 earlier this year. All counties are being required by the federal government to have at least one new machine per precinct that is accessible to the visually impaired by the Aug. 3 state primary and county general election. Twenty-two of the new machines include audio components.

Voting should be easy if you have a voter-verified paper trail, or a touch screen machine with a paper trail that will tell you if your vote really counts, better yet vote absentee, because that is the easiest.
