What do you think about election activists setting up a "demo election" the way an election ought to be run, complete with paper ballots, hand counting, and full transparency? Show the public what a real election ought to look like?

Lora,

I Like it! I Like it....!

Now how would we or any activist group pull it off? I would say, to get interest and participation of the public, it would be best to do an issue ballot.
Like say, 3issues, 1st National/State Health Care, 2nd Illegal Immigration, and 3rd could be Women Health Care Choice.
Wow, three covered well by the media, Issues/"Stones" thrown out by both parties, and something that I think a large percent of people have an opinion on.
The reason they are issues and not candidates are for reason such as; people don't trust politicians, they get tired of the politicians, and these issues affect them/they have strong opinions on all of them.

Just a thought I wanted to share.

Sincerely,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I like your idea because it is not that often that people get to express an opinion on a policy issue, unless you live in one of the states that makes it easy to do this.

Another possibility would be to have a couple issues that are Yes/No, and to include one issue where voters can rank 3 or more options. Wow, that would be mind-blowing. (But before you do this, first figure out which kind of vote-counting method you'll use--IRV, Preferendum style, or other). (This would also make it slightly more compicated to count the votes, so you may or may not want to do this for your current purpose.)
