To everything there is a season. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones.

According to this article in the NY Times (free registration required), it is a time to dive.

Counties all over America are disposing of old equipment now that new equipment has been purchased. Certainly the manuals should be gathered from any vendor available. But there is the oportunity to get actual machinery and software here. Trash is no one's property except the person who claims it.

Items to watch for:
manuals
CD/DVD's for software installation
Actual machinery

Only bad software is delayed by good testing.
