Subject: Eye witness report of ballot stuffing in Colo. caucus

COLORADO - I just interviewed a gentleman in Boulder, Colorado who provided a detailed report. He was one of the caucus officials (chairman? captain? not sure of the lingo). They hand counted the ballots and the two elderly ladies counted them wrong. He corrected them. He carefully wrote down the correct information. While he was doing this, one of the elderly ladies was grabbing at the envelope; she ultimately did take the envelope and hurry away with it.

She then dropped the envelope and as she was picking it up, the gentleman I interviewed (who does have a name, which I'll release with his permission when he signs an affidavit) -- anyway, he witnessed her take a ballot (which he had NOT seen fall out of the envelope) and put it into the envelope. He noticed that, while all the ballots were folded, this one was not folded.

She stated that she was bringing the envelope to where the Republicans were putting all the ballots together. He asked her where this would be, so he could go there too. She said she might "stop at her home" on the way.

He called me initially, quite shaken, trying to learn where the Boulder County Republicans were convening. I do not know.

The miscounts were against Ron Paul. The extra ballot inserted was for Romney. He expressed amazement that these two seemingly nice elderly ladies were involved in cheating, both on the count and, the one lady, with the ballot stuffing. I should mention that the attendance in his precinct was low, and even a few ballots would skew the count.

As we know, in Iowa it was quite a delay before we could get precinct results from the caucus. I am unsure as to how promptly Colorado will release precinct results, or even IF they will.

Yup...sounds like a REALLY credible accusation. Watch this...I went to vote in NY. Every time I tried to vote for John McCain, I was punched in the face by the ballot box, which then had a robotic arm come out and vote for Ron Paul. This happened at least 1000 times. So Ron Paul got 1000 extra votes in NY. And that was just what I saw!
I, of course, can't offer you any proof. Butclearly, proof is NOT required on this site. Therefore, you MUSt take what I say as a fact. Please look into this ballot box robot that is voting for Ron Paul.

John, it's a good thing our criminal justice system doesn't have the trial first and the investigation afterwards.

Hi Bev,
I attended my first caucus here in Mesa County, CO (I am used to Calif. primaries), and found it to be rather lax. Paper ballots were passed out and everyone made their choice. There was a question asked on who would like to count the ballots, and I quickly raised my hand. So I and another gal convened to the back of the room while the rest of the meeting resumed. I carefully tallied and eyeballed all the ballots. The results were correctly announced and were soon called in to the Elections office. What I found peculiar was the amount of "trust" the other voters bestowed on me and my counting partner. I suppose there could of been "skewed" results. Of course, that did not happen, because I believe in karma and what goes around comes around. I also agree with what Ronald Reagen once said, "Trust, but verify."
It seems to me that this procedure for nominating a person to the highest office in the land, definately seems to lack concrete checks and balances. But I guess if someone really wanted to contest the results they could of re-counted all the ballots themselves.
I did sign up to be an elections judge, where I hope to help educate my local electons about the vulnerabilities of e-voting machines. They must be banned!

If you are ever in this position again perhaps you can propose that a second counting team, who does not know the result of the first count, also count the ballots. Only if both counts match exactly would the results be deemed correct.

Also, you could ask that each counting team also have one or more observers.

By asking for these things (and explaining why they are important) you will educate your fellow voters. Teach them by example, that even you yourself should not be given blind trust.

I personally brought my mother's registration form to the Board of elections on January 9. She registered in time for the primary as a Republican.

She went to vote on Super Tuesday and, Behold! she was registered Democrat and wasn't allowed to cast a ballot. Lest anyone think she was changing parties, this was not the case.

As an unregistered voter in New York State, you must only register 25 days before the primary, in this case January 11. My mother was unregistered, and at no time has she ever been a Democrat.

This is what we are dealing with in this country today. The people entrusted with keeping the system honest have been corrupted and there needs to be a complete scouring of the temple.

God bless you, Bev Harris. I hope you have sounded the alarm in time to save the democratic process.

Laurie,

Thanks so much for posting about your experience.

There are many reports of voters showing up only to discover that their party affiliation has been changed without their knowledge or approval, or to find that their registration has disappeared altogether.

We should all be worried about this. The first step is to discover more facts about what has happened, and reports such as yours are important.

If you email Bev privately with more detail about your location that might be helpful.

Did they just pick 2 volunteers without any investigation of party preference? This doesn't seem good. Also, you could have a pre-arranged setup to miscount votes even with 2 groups of counters ( if you don't check for them being oppositional and even if you don't tell either what the 'right' counts are: You count them carefully but pre-arrange to report this guy as X amount less than reality and the preferred candidate as X amount more than reality, and make sure that your people are the vast majority of the "volunteers".
