Subject: Jeffrey Dean at it again
USA: We signed an agreement to purchase and paid a considerable amount of money to Jeff and Deborah Dean in order to purchase the rv park that they built and developed 10 miles south of Riggins, ID. My name is Cindy Laner. My husband, John, and I have recently left Riggins, Idaho, as Co-Owners of Canyon Pines Rv Resort, Inc.
Our life savings, my husbands inheritance, and nearly 2 years of work were invested into the business.
Recently Jeff Dean began borrowing money from the business and refused to pay it back in the amount of time he said he would. My husband and I became suspicious, and thanks to BlackBox, have found all the documentation about Jeff Dean.
Jeff Dean did not disclose to us his 23 counts of first degree theft nor his mis-management of other peoples money prior to us signing this agreement. If we had known about this man, we never would have invested in this business.
We would like help in recovering our investment. I will work this case as long as necessary to recover what is rightfully ours.
We also want to put other people on alert, as we hear that they are trying to put this business back on the market. I don't want another couple to be taken advantage of the Deans corruption.
Any assistance, legal or financial to cover the costs of legal fees, would be appreciated. We are currently broke and out of work. We have moved out of state to be with family. |

I have been keeping tabs on Jeffrey and Deborah Dean and was aware of your situation. Thanks very much for providing the details.
We restrict these forums to voting-related topics, but what you have reported does tie into election integrity, in the following way: Jeff Dean was intimately involved in programming software that is still very widely used throughout the US. He is known for his involvement in the GEMS central tabulator, used in about one-third of US voting locations. It is less well known, but equally important, that he was the key programmer for the Vote Remote program used to process absentee ballots. In fact, the signature export function in that program is causing me grave concern in connection with the trend towards massive mail-in voting and sloppy voter list management. More on that later.
We can't help with legal fees, and I certainly feel for you there. This is a horrible thing to have to go through.
I'm going to privately send you my e-mail address. I am interested in seeing any documents you have related to dealings with Jeff Dean. To the extent that I can point you in any helpful direction, I certainly will.
His handiwork is contained in a significant part of behind-the-scenes vote processing and counting, and it is relevant that he is a recidivist crook. He has already gone to jail twice, and he certainly appears to have committed fraud in his 2006 bankruptcy filings as well. These ethics are hardly a good fit for involvement in election software design. |

I will talk with our lawyer and let you know what we decide to do. If we all can work together to keep Jeff Dean from harming anyone else, or this country, I'm all for it! |

Aha! I discovered the problem - I now have your e-mails and attachments, Cynthia. In fact, all the e-mails to our Web e-mail were being stored in an inactive area (but weren't lost) -- this just for the past three weeks. We had made an adjustment due to being spam-bombed, and I forgot to activate one of the settings.
