This is a website that appears to permit one week's free usage. A search of "ballot" brought up ballot RFP's for a couple states. FWIW -- some states may have online listing of RFPS or contractors, as well. Link: http://www.findrfp.com/service/search.aspx?s=ballots&t=CT&x=36&y=13 |

Christine, can you save the files you're able to locate this way? Maybe they could be archived here. |

Don't know -- I didn't sign up to get a week's free access. The free way to begin, at least in CT and NH, is to seek out the state's Department of Administrative Services or similar, which may have a database listing suppliers, RFP's, or expired/active contracts. Some databases may include towns. Not sure if county-based states would have separate dbases for counties, states. This is something I discovered back when Bev was trying to figure out how to locate cell phone records, employee expense reports that might have expensed certain purchases, and purchases of a wide variety of items. Where ballot configurations have proven troublesome, it is possible that the ballot spec and the person responsible for it may become clearer in part by reading the statutes, but also by reviewing the ballot specs and purchase order. If towns are responsible for ordering ballots, which in NE may sometimes be the case, then might make sense to find out if they MAY or MUST let this be tracked via the state.
